Living in the Present

Wear Your Good Socks

The practice of yoga teaches us to be present. In the tradition of Iyengar yoga, we learn to pay attention — to our bodies, to our breath, to the subtle movements that bring us into alignment. This practice of attention extends beyond the mat.

Living in the present means wearing your good socks today, not saving them for some imagined future occasion. It means stepping onto your mat even when your mind tells you there are a hundred other things to do. It means breathing fully into this moment, because this moment is all we truly have.
