Why Props?

Essential tools for deeper awareness, proper alignment, and therapeutic support

Expanded Awareness

Props are used to provide students with a deeper understanding of an individual asana. They also allow for a longer stay and deeper penetration within a pose. Students gain awareness of a particular place in their body where they otherwise would not. Props are another reason to practice Iyengar yoga — the asanas work for any body.

Alignment

Props assist students in finding proper alignment within a pose.

Therapeutics

Props are used in myriad and sophisticated ways to help students with impediments or injury. If you are recovering from an injury, surgery, or joint replacement, this practice is for your body. Our practice is attentive and safe.
